Breakfast with SantaSoap Box Racetrack

In 2001, a dedicated group of volunteers, working on behalf of the Owensboro Lions Club, brought the Soap Box Derby back to Owensboro after a 36-year absence. Since that time this event has grown to be one of the most anticipated in the Owensboro/Daviess County community and among the top Soap Box Derby races in the region. Building upon this success, community leaders collaborated with the Owensboro Lions Club to construct a permanent Soap Box Derby track at Ben Hawes Park. Thanks to the commitment of the City of Owensboro, Daviess County Fiscal Court and other private contributors, these races will now take place on one of the most beautiful venues in North America. This information builds upon Owensboro/Daviess County's recognition as a Sports Illustrated Sports Town and our self proclaimed designation as a family oriented community. Our personal commitment to you is that we will provide young boys and girls the opportunity to spend time with a caring adult as they build their Soap Box Derby racer. We will teach sportsmanship and self-confidence. We will provide all kids with the thrill of competing in a downhill racer they built themselves. Perhaps more importantly, we will offer Super Kids races that provide children with disabilities the same excitement, as does the official Soap Box Derby races. Should you wish to contribute or participate in any way, you can contact Ron (270-929-5515), Chris (270-764-5663) or John (270-302-5443). Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. We look forward to partnering with visionaries like you to make this the best Soap Box Derby venue in the region.
